Dr. Robert A. Sintich is the newest member on the Hancock Partners Board of Directors, joining in July of 2020. However, he is no stranger to the Hancock Community. He resides with his wife Helen in their family home purchased 64 years ago on Somerset Lake.
In his early years, Dr Sintich worked part-time at the Delaware Opportunities Fish's Eddy Head Start program. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Scranton, as well as a master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. His doctoral degree in education with a minor in educational law was awarded by Rutgers University upon completion of his doctoral thesis, which centered on the study of the community college system in the State of New Jersey.
Dr. Sintich also served as a Commissioner for what is now called the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), was Vice President of a local school board and was former President of the Somerset Lake Association in Hancock.
He has been employed in both the medical and academic fields. He started his career in nursing education and became an Assistant Dean and Clinical Assistant Professor. Later he served in various positions in higher education to include Dean of Students, Assistant Dean of Curriculum, Dean of Academic Affairs, Chief Academic Officer and Provost. He later was chairman of the English, Math, History, Psychology, Science and Sociology departments and Professor of History and Social Science. He currently holds the title of Professor Emeritus awarded by Warren County Community College. Dr. Sintich is a veteran who served in the United States Army Medical Service Corps and reached the rank of Captain. In addition, one of his proudest achievements was the creation of a nationally recognized V.I.P.E.R. program for veterans which awards college credits to military members for their military training.
In the short time he has been involved with the Hancock Partners he has worked on the submission of a grant application to the Federal Government to explore the possibility of establishing a Trauma center in Hancock. His hope is to utilize both his work and life experiences toward building a better Hancock community. In joining the Partners, Dr. Sintich said, “I am so proud to be a part of a group whose sole aim is the betterment of our community. This nonpolitical group works with members of both political parties and volunteer members that want Hancock to be the shining star for New York State’s Southern Tier and Northeast Pennsylvania. I hope I can truly make a difference for our community”
